another from the plein air session - blocking in shapes rather than drawing the figure works best for these.

actually its something to strive for in all my paintings.  I tend to 'draw' with the brush and want to get away from that.

--These past few weeks have been filled with long hours on the business side of art - actually all the computer time, doing research, the paperwork, workshops etc. is all PART of my art. One exists because of the other. They are a team.
--A lot of time has been spent thinking about what to do next, where to take my art, what avenues are worth pursuing ?
--This is where that old crappy baggage sneaks back in - the self doubt monster questioning my every move. I hate her.

--SO-- Ive decided to leave her behind and jump in with both feet and really go for it.

6x6" oil - had a marathon painting session at the beach - which is the best for several reasons, my favorite being seeing what develops towards the end.

-after painting a bunch of 'serious' landscapes, I started painting a few close up people studies. quick, fun and loose, not over thinking - in fact barely thinking about painting.

I love getting to that place.

sat by myself at the beach last week and painted...nice breeze, gorgeous out... and today got caught in a summer shower while walking the dog.... makes me smile

took a break from the commission/gallery work and did this. A Couple of Old Salts. It was the white socks that got me....they screamed out to be painted. :)

Its a Shore Thing - daily painting,beach scene

6x6" oil on canvas. Its a Shore Thing. painting on canvas today - which normally I hate. the firmness of a panel is so much more appealing to paint on. but had these lying around all primed and ready to go and it wasnt so bad.
