Portrait #2. Yellow Dress. love this project. Painting this small isnt going to cut it. too restricting, so I'm priming some bigger panels.

In every painting there is a spot that I fall in love with - all painters are like that, although Ive never asked any - I can just tell :).
For me on this painting its the yellow of her dress on the shoulder. no reason really - just love that part

6x6" oil on canvas. Its a Shore Thing. painting on canvas today - which normally I hate. the firmness of a panel is so much more appealing to paint on. but had these lying around all primed and ready to go and it wasnt so bad.

This image has been on my mind to paint for a few weeks now, finally had time this past weekend to get it down in paint. this is bigger than my usuals and on a thicker board with a groove in the back for easy hanging.

One week from today is the RISD alumni/student sale. Hopefully we will have weather like today! Its so gorgeous out. If not, we'll be under tents. Its such a fun sale either way. Look for my sign(below) and lots of little daily painting originals!

Back to school, back to routines and daily habits. With this in mind I had to paint these ladies who walk and swim the beach all the time. Inspiring.

another from the old photos. not everyone will 'get' these. I really like painting them, I can get lost in the image, imagine that day, that time. Stories form, my mind wanders, the paint becomes loose.... what oil painting is all about. And these look really good against my red family room walls :)

I'm spending a lot of time at Little League games lately and always have my camera with me. This Mom was watching her son pitch, it was a little chilly and her dog was a little nervous with the crowds and noise. People watching and painting is an irresistable combination.
