Beach Scene1-pink hoodie,framed,Debbie Miller

6x6" oil on panel in silver frame $200
It is FINALLY nice out!!  Hooray!  I think I might actually thaw out now after the deep freeze.
Some little paintings just got back to me from a gallery.  They are in frames and I've decided to offer them up here for sale.  Great gifts - ready to go!

Leaving Summer 3 - leaving summer behind series - beach scenes

16x16 oil on birch panel.
3 ladies leaving the beach. painted on a blue ground for the first time ever. such a different experience than my usual cad red lit.! fun though - parts of this are painted real thin and in other areas I used a palette knife and really laid it on thick. happy with the results but not this photo.

Leaving Summer 1 - leaving summer behind series - beach scenes

6x6" oil on gessobord
Starting a new series - Leaving Summer Behind - the first few will be small ones - studies really for some larger paintings. What strikes me with this one is that she is walking to the left - which seems like she is coming not going. does that make any sense? think the rest should be walking to the right.....

Pink Hoodie -daily painting, beach scene

5x7 - oil on wood panel.
Almost done with the large painting....are they ever really done? sometimes I have to say 'back away from the easel' - so its basically done - now it just has to dry and get ready to go to its new home in Germany!

this is a little one just finished with the 'extra' palette paint. It needs a better title. Christin got any ideas??

next up: a new series called "Leaving Summer". Stay tuned!!

#1 -towel series -beach scenes

18x18" oil on wood panel.
#1 - towel series
havent named this yet - but its the first of a series - of course this is a subject Ive done many times before
- today, all super inspired from going back to where my artistic roots started to take hold ( the outer cape cod) I got a bunch of panels ready to start a new series - Ive got about 7 subjects in mind!! - and somehow ended up back here - but I'm not complaining, I like it here.

However, switching things up with the way I paint - challenged by my artist sister-in-law - to use less paint, loosen up, paint larger, embrace my contemporary side more- I'm going for it and its soooo much fun
Sortof on vacation this week...due to the computer cord and getting into the routine of summer with boys out of school, ....so not really vacation but a break from painting.

Found this photo while cleaning today. Its my favorite of my sister and I (she's on the right) and exactly the kind of photo I like to paint from - it captures a moment in time. So much more interesting than if the two of us had been grinning at the camera...
Not sure which beach we're at but I think its
at the Cape Cod Natural History Museum. Which is one of my favorite places to go on the Cape still. If you find yourself on the Cape this summer and especially if youve got kids its a must see.

now back to the laundry and the trunk list...

All Summer

24"x24" encaustic, collage, oil on board nfs - this ones mine.
my beach boys. Its about to be 'all boys -all summer' in a few short days.....*sigh*

Looking forward to the change of pace however. time to refocus, reevaluate, restart and relax.

packing my pochade box up to keep in the car for some beach day plein airs and also going to experiment with some things.....
