Hinterland 2 - plein air

8x10 oil on panel. 2 weeks ago took myself out for some plein air painting on my birthday. Went to one of my favorite places on earth - the end of the world -past Horseneck beach in Westport Mass. I could spend the rest of my life painting on this little strip of beach, there are sooooo many subjects...from the ocean to the campers and their people....there will be more I am sure

took a break from the commission/gallery work and did this. A Couple of Old Salts. It was the white socks that got me....they screamed out to be painted. :)

Currently, one of those "Calgon,take me away" moments seems pretty good. Painting, shipping,commisssions,framing, and working on my website (up and running soon) among other things...ya know Multitasking!!! and Oh yeh, this little note showed up this morning :

8x8" oil on masonite. In the interest of loosening up my paintings, today I challenged myself to do a painting entirely with a palette knife and this is it.

This is a good exercise and you will see its effects in the next couple of paintings posted.
