Sortof on vacation this week...due to the computer cord and getting into the routine of summer with boys out of school, ....so not really vacation but a break from painting.
Found this photo while cleaning today. Its my favorite of my sister and I (she's on the right) and exactly the kind of photo I like to paint from - it captures a moment in time. So much more interesting than if the two of us had been grinning at the camera... Not sure which beach we're at but I think its at the Cape Cod Natural History Museum. Which is one of my favorite places to go on the Cape still. If you find yourself on the Cape this summer and especially if youve got kids its a must see.
The Artists for Save the Bay show runs through Aug. 28 so if you cant make the reception stop by the show some other time this summer. Its a great collection of coastal art for a great cause (and the Save the Bay building is pretty cool too!) I'm so happy 3 of my paintings are included in this years show!!
6x6 oil on panel. flower friday. iris and poppies from my garden - painted this last week. they are gone now. Walking around the yard looking at everything in bloom, I feel guilty if they dont get painted so I'm bringing back 'flower friday' for the summer....... and another summer goal is to actually fill an entire sketchbook! usually there are several in rotation and end up a mishmosh. So I'll be trying to fill ONE from start to finish. occasionally i'll share a page or too - it'll help keep me accountable ;) AND its fun to peer into an artists sketchbook isnt it? like getting a glimpse into their studio space - love it if my artists friends out there would share their sketchbooks too
6x5ish oil on panel. Working on a big still life with strawberries. this is a quick study for it. painting strawberries is soooo fun --- aliz. crimson and cad red lt...my 2 favorites in the same fruit. doesn't get any better than that ;) *sigh* its the little things ....
no painting today - instead my niece and I went for a nature walk at the beach and hit the jackpot! first we found a robins egg - at the beach! who knew?? then...we followed fresh deer tracks! we must have just missed him!!! and THEN.....a 30 ft. humpback whale (dead)!!!
very smelly but still cool to see. I love the beach. Something new everyday...it'll be a while before I can top this though ;)
6x6' oil on masonite panel. lots of thick paint here applied with a palette knife. Which by the way is my palette knife from college!! working on some encaustics today!! - so fun - I'll post them when they are done
6x6" oil on wood panel. loving this little pink sundress, its going to come up in a few paintings this month. Still plugging away on commissions and getting organized but couldnt resist this little Twirl Girl

With the year half over already , I'm reviewing my To-Do list and responding to comments is right up there near the top!
