Black Lab 001 painting

24x24" acrylic on wood panel
Acrylic - I know, weird right?   I love oils, I really really do but ooooh I am having a love affair with acrylics right now.
Struggled at first with the change in medium but I've hit my grove with these dogs.  Totally into pushing the color and the abstract right now.  More of this is bubbling under the surface, watch out.

Studio Peek

A little studio peek.  The beach scenes are WIP.  The dogs are done.  I have been playing around with acrylics on these big panels and I'm LOVING it.  The quickness suits my painting style.  stay tuned for close-ups and more.

Spring is Here - sort of.

nfdp.  This is what the first day of spring looks like here in Little Rhody.
Two weeks ago the snow covered this plant stand! Dang we had a lot of snow.
 All set now.
The subtle colors of winter that inspired me 2 months ago are not really doing it  anymore.  I'm craving some green and the smell of dirt!  Come on Mother Nature you can do it!

More snow tonight!  We are so excited.
Edit:  that was yesterday.  this is today:

Woke to another inch of snow

6x6" oil on panel $100
The cupcakes came about a few years ago when i used to paint one as a warm-up before getting down to some commissions or other work.  Lately, repainting older favorite paintings has been my go-to warm up.
This is one of those.
(in person the sand is much more butterscotch-y.  I'm haveing trouble capturing that color with my camera today)

Lego my Cupcake6x6

6"x6" oil $100
Son Two turned 19 this past weekend. *sigh*
When he was a boy he was the Lego guy and one year we had a Lego birthday party of course.  I can't remember if I put Legos on top of cupcakes for his party but I must have right?  I mean it just seems like something I would have done.

Get ready, I've got a lot of cupcakes coming at you.

Portrait sketch 30315

Another portrait sketch.  The model had that pinky complexion that I find hard to capture but I think I came close with this one.  That is why painting from the live model is so fun - there is a never ending challenge and learning opportunity.
