6x6 oil on panel By Now I am sure my regular collectors and followers think Ive gone completely mad. I know what they are saying - "Where are those little beach scenes we've come to know and love? Where is the representational work - What are those lines? and my Gosh, what is happening to the skin tones!?" There's no explaining it. It's just happening. The other stuff is not totally gone - if you ask, I'd be happy to paint one for you. Its just that right now THESE are rocking my world. I can't seem to stop
6x6 Oil on panel. Still real chilly here in the NorthEast - will spring ever come?? Take a break from it all and visit this lovely and inspiring blog from England by Beth Nicolls. Ive shared a story there today. You can read it HERE
These are all about the gesture of the figure and the layers and interesting things going on in the negative space. Sort of a painting on top of another painting with the under painting showing through.
This one I am going to paint again large - really feeling the composition and energy - of course the colors won't be the same but that is half the fun!
The yellow tones in this just won't photograph today. I'm going mad trying to adjust...and on top of that its snowing. Yup, that's right - snow - on our first full day of spring. rats.
Anyway - these next few paintings are a bit different from the older paintings. Taking my large scale process and shrinking it down to the itty bitty size. When you paint a lot - things happen. You develop and grow and change. That's why painting is so fun!
