Cairne Terriers, dog painting, Debbie Miller

10x10x1" oil on panel.
Leftover from the Christmas rush of commissions.  I painted a couple for this collector and she chose the other one but this one is just as cute.

Mutt 001 painting

24x24" acrylic on wood panel.
No - not bored of the black lab yet just had to paint my sweet boy Bode Dog a sweet sweet mutt.  Still having fun with these big acrylics.  My son called dibs on this painting, so it is not for sale.

Black Lab 002 painting

24x24" acrylic of wood panel
Something about painting the same image over and over again is appealing.  It lets you explore the paint and the mood and the color without having to worry about composition and proportion and all that fussy stuff.  Just might paint this black lab a bunch more until it is not fun any more.

Acrylic - I know, weird right?   I love oils, I really really do but ooooh I am having a love affair with acrylics right now.
Struggled at first with the change in medium but I've hit my grove with these dogs.  Totally into pushing the color and the abstract right now.  More of this is bubbling under the surface, watch out.

Bode Dog

2014 ended with us losing our beloved sweet Bode. (right)
Just the sweetest boy ever.  We miss him.
Dogs are the best.  Plain and Simple.

I love painting them too.  Thinking up some ideas for a series of abstract dog inspired paintings that I'm kind of excited about. Nothing like my past dog paintings although I like doing those too   HERE is a dog post from last year and also one of my favorites HERE

My Baby

6x8' oil on gessoboard NFS
a commission finished today. (not MY baby - someone elses little cutie) Tomorrow - more scenes from the beach inpired by todays warm weather and last weekends 'unofficial' start of summer. Soon Ive got a little update on what has gotten me so busy lately...so stay tuned.

Jack Russell -daily painting, small dog series

4.5 x4.5" acrylic on wood
small dog, small painting. this is the first from a little series of dogs. saw -tooth hanger on the back for easy hanging and the sides of the wood are painted black. Personally, I like my dogs big but I can appreciate the huge personalities that the little breeds have and had fun painting them.
The plan is to make some prints of these, I'll let you know when I get around to that. :) May is such a busy month - almost as busy as December if thats possible.

Rex

6x6" oil on masonite SOLD
Rex the Pug. Isnt he the best? Throughtout art history pugs were the most popular dog to paint. I can see why, so much fun! This is a commission I did of a beloved pet and have to admit I enjoy doing these. So, I welcome more to anyone interested in having a portrait of their favorite pooch. just send me an email inquiry.
