Surfers at Purgatory

6x6 oil on cradled panel (makes it easy to hang - no frame required)

One of my favorite spots in RI  - looking down on 2nd beach in Middletown and seeing all the surfers bobbing around on their boards - it wouldn't be summer without it

As much as I love the beach - a sun lover, I am not.
Its the foggy, put on a sweatshirt days that I love most.

Off Season Santa - beach scene, holiday, daily painting

6x6" oil - happily painting away, listening to Christmas songs on the radio and thinking about what Santa does for vacation.

He goes to the beach of course!!

If someone doesnt snatch him up first, he'll be in my booth at the RISD Holiday Sale on dec. 4. come by and say hi! I 'll be booth 313.

All Creatures - great and small...

no painting today - instead my niece and I went for a nature walk at the beach and hit the jackpot! first we found a robins egg - at the beach! who knew?? then...we followed fresh deer tracks! we must have just missed him!!! and THEN.....a 30 ft. humpback whale (dead)!!!
very smelly but still cool to see. I love the beach. Something new everyday...it'll be a while before I can top this though ;)

Winter Walk - daily painting, Postcards From Rhode Island

5x7 oil on gessobord panel. Postcard from RI. Ive got some 5x7 boards prepared and have never used them because I love the square format so much better. These remind me of postcards so I decided to use them for some plein air quickies around my little state. Starting with Second Beach in Middletown looking back towards St Georges School

In the Soup-daily painting,surfing,beach,children

6x6" oil on masonite
"In the Soup" = a surfing term for being in the white foam of a wave after it has broken.

below is a 4x4" acrylic of Shadow, my sons classroom bear who spent the weekend with us. He just HAD to have his portrait painted, looking oh so dapper in his naval uniform :)

Summer Color

6x8" oil on masonite

Winter outside, daydreaming inside. Todays inpiration:

"I want to be where the talk of the town

Is about last night when the sun went down

And the trees all dance

And the warm wind blows in that same old sound

And the water below gives a gift to the sky

And the clouds give back every time they cry

And make the grass grow green beneath my toes

And if the sun comes out

I'll paint a picture all about

The colors I've been dreaming of

The hours just don't seem enough
To put it all together

Maybe it's as strange as it seems"

-Jack Johnson -lyrics from "Talk of the Town"
