It really is a great way to loosen up and get 'ready'

Strawberry Study - daily painting,floral

6x5ish oil on panel. Working on a big still life with strawberries. this is a quick study for it. painting strawberries is soooo fun --- aliz. crimson and cad red lt...my 2 favorites in the same fruit. doesn't get any better than that ;)

It is like my brain sees in zoom lens only....I try to paint the whole still life...but I always seem to super crop it when I sketch it out. Zeroing in on what drew me to the scene in the first place. I wonder what would happen if I put the vase on the other side of the room? Would I still zoom in? I bet I would :-)

When I paint these little still lifes, I usually have a bunch of subjects on the table and a couple paintings going at once. These were just 'leftovers' on the counter. Again, working on painting NOT drawing with paint.

Great strawberries this year. Hard to not get caught up in all the little seeds and end up with a tight boring painting. I tried to stay loose and not do that. Ive got tons to do this week as we wrap up the school year so these simple subjects are the way to go...
