Bite Size

6x6 oil on masonite
oops - forgot to post a cupcake on my sons B-Day earlier this month! I just got these 2 "Birthday Boys" back and they are available again too. (check my DP page for them) - cause everyone knows MY birthday boy would prefer black and white cupcakes if at all - maybe alittle bamboo green thrown in for color :)

Beach Boys -daily painting, plein air, beach series

6x6" oil on gessoboard

I had such a nice day, hope you don't mind if I share some of it. First, this little plein air was done at the end of my nice day(again not so great photo of it) - my middle son needed 450 small black rocks for his 'Business America' project - due tomorrow- so off to the RISD beach we went. Knowing looking for that many rocks might take awhile... I brought along my thumb box and asked him and his younger brother to pick a subject and they both said "paint us" (duh - the usual answer :)) So... here they are...one is looking for rocks, the other is skipping rocks. It was absolutely gorgeous out AND no bickering....peace, ahh...take it when I get it.
Earlier I had the pleasure of painting with my niece Mirabel and then went to my youngest school play...scenery done with the kids and my friends Mimi and Katrin. I'm going to savor today for a bit....I am so lucky.

Endless Summer - daily painting, beach scenes

Endless Summer - remembering those days when a summer seemed to last forever. Catching a wave was the only thing to do.......

***edit*** check out the link to My Boy's Art Blog - look for the little widget on the right side of my blog. Its the spot where my boys will post their art -when the inspiration hits! - and Sister send some of your little artists work and we'll add those too!

Incoming Tide

Its windy cold March. Trying to 'feel' that hot sun, and that end of a good beach day warmth. Some artists are drawn to their subjects by a color or subject. For me, its more about an emotional draw, something has to really grab me in some personal way. There needs to be an emotional connection. Then hopefully that feeling gets passed onto the viewer.

Street Fall

It actually FEELS like summer today, but I am done with summer weather! So, in denial, I painted Autumn today. Besides the people doing their thing at the beach, people doing their thing on the street is a favorite subject matter. This one, is a sortof 'chicken or egg' scene. Not sure wether he fell off his bike and then noticed the interesting leaves OR did he notice the leaves and thats why he fell off the bike? No matter, as a mom of boys, this image speaks to me. Its what little boys do ---they ride and fall off bikes, they wear striped shirts and jeans and boots. They love their boots. They think helmets with flames on them are the coolest things ever. They are curious and busy and loud and get dirty. Little boys rock!
