Winter - my first encaustic!

6x5.5" encaustic,collage,oil

My first encaustic! - encaustic is painting with hot wax. - and man, is it different than what I normally do - totally out of my comfort zone! But completely fun and addicting. ---ooh the layers and depth! its completely freeing. Ive been waiting to use this stack of old childrens book pages too.

Bundle of Joy -daily painting, children, snow, winter scene

6x6" oil on gessobord
typically theres a few paintings going on at one time here in my little studio. Its kindof funny right now to look around and see the clash of seasons going on. The Beach vs. the Snow.
Ive got winter on my brain. No doubt the beach will be back but for now its all about the snow :)

Last Look - plein air, daily painting

6x6 oil on gessobord
Ran by this tree today. Something about it made me go home and get my paints. Maybe it was those last few leaves hanging on, the blue/orange -my favorite combo, or the 'personality' of the tree...whatever it was, glad I went back.
