Autumn Woods 2 - daily painting plein air landscape

6x6" oil - every year during this week I HAVE to go outside and paint - and it has to be trees - Ive got a thing for dark trunks against the orange leaves.
Also has to be loose and painterly, I want to capture the feeling of being in the woods this time of year not every branch, leaf or twig

Winter - daily painting, winter landscape

16x20 oil on canvas nfs
Looking towards winter..... working on special projects and trying to stay organized - couldnt help taking a break and painting this for my dining room, inspired by the gorgeous sky this morning when I drove my son to school....all grays, blues, and white...

The Journey - My October - 6,plein air,landscape

10"x20" oil on canvas. $400
They say its all about the journey..... couldnt agree more. this little challenge for myself - painting outside everyday from life - is teaching me so much...for one thing I REALLY like painting outside...2.- french easel is better than pochade box...unless painting in the car!...3.-Squinting IS reeaally important.... 4.- edges are key...need to pay more attention...5.-I am soooo lucky to get to do this today....and so on,and so on....

A Gathering - my October 3 - plein air

6x6" oil on masonite. Ever since starting this little project its been cold and rainy! must admit, wimping out and stayed IN the car to paint this morning - just let the dog out to run around....which he didnt! he just sat there waiting for me to get out.
This yucky weather is ruining everyones weekend plans here in NE but it makes for great saturated color - I did 3 today and could have painted all day...I like this challenge.
happy weekend !!

Winter - my first encaustic!

6x5.5" encaustic,collage,oil

My first encaustic! - encaustic is painting with hot wax. - and man, is it different than what I normally do - totally out of my comfort zone! But completely fun and addicting. ---ooh the layers and depth! its completely freeing. Ive been waiting to use this stack of old childrens book pages too.

Spring Birds

6x6" oil on masonite
spring is slow to come around here, but the subtle signs are out there. Walking my dog in the morning, its usually quiet, not anymore - the birds are making a racket, singing, chirping. love it.

I entered these 2 paintings in the Art League RI Associate Members Show at Gallery 297 in Bristol RI and both got in!! The opening is Sunday from 1-3 , come by and say Hi. I just got back from helping to hang the show and it looks great.

'Leaves" :daily painting,plein air,autumn

6x6" oil on masonite SOLD
I cant think of a good title. I asked my husband (who is tired of this question) and he said "Leaf Me Alone" :-)
I still dont have MY computer so I have to admit that I color corrected this with 'auto correct'. needless to say its NOT correct color. The sky is a much prettier blue and the leaves are more yellow. Its the best I can do for now.
These tree tops were my muse last winter. Today they drew me in again, the yellow against the sky was just too yummy and because of the storm expected tomorrow, they'll be gone soon.
