Workshop

here are 2 of the demos Carol Marine did at the workshop - so great to get back to basics and be a student again - for 3 days straight. Carol - is a terrific instructor - wise beyond her years! Great bunch of artists in the group too!! I will post links to some of them soon.

Below are some of my boards - some of them are 10 min studies.. I'm super comfortable painting my way around the human form but put an apple in front of me!! eeeek - scary!!
Soooo they were my focus during this workshop - .... Carol is THE Queen of painting apples so thought I'ld learn from the best

6x6" oil on masonite panel. Lovely. Ha! it is soooo not lovely here in the N.E. today! i'm ignoring it. I'm going to paint spring and summer in my basement studio for the next 2 days and forget all about this snow....plus I'm on a roll, might as well keep it going (secretly shooting for 100 in a row...shhh.)

Fall Favorites. Fridays are my day to experiment and have fun painting. Usually that means bigger,looser and a different subject. - although wonky still lives are kindof a 'go to' thing for me.

A Spring Thing - daily painting,floral still life

not a big fan of painting green or yellow so I challanged myself today with this. - it was hard, first it was hard deciding WHAT to paint, then I moved the stuff around a million times, then the decision making of 'what color where' started. I think to much with green instead of just instinctively putting down color,value, line etc. Really I love those days when I paint and my mind is somewhere else - thinking,listening to music, daydreaming then I focus and 'hey thats a nice painting' . Its a form of meditating I suppose. Today, I had that a little but mostly it was struggling with color.
I was going to do some little ones also but now I have a headache! so this is it for today.

painted this on a red ground with a new #8 flat brush and really like the results. its drying on my window sill and the colors are just yummy, something about this little still life makes me smile.

chilly gray day and Ive got a cold. ...so in a kitcheny comfort food kindof mood, I ended up here. love black/white checks and green apples. tough for me to paint though so everynow and then I paint them for practice. I love the shadow on the right.

6x8 oil on masonite today I stayed home, did laundry, put on reggae and painted for 5 hours. sweet. this was the last of 6 that I did. nice and bright,loose and buttery.
