Work in Progress

a work in progress - sitting on my mantel - I'm no good at the 'work a little bit on a painting every day til its done' thing.

Painting something all at once - in one sitting -or at the most 2 days is waaaay more my style -

This was painted months ago....its my mission this week to finish it! its so close. then switching gears just a bit....

Hinterland 2 - plein air

8x10 oil on panel. 2 weeks ago took myself out for some plein air painting on my birthday. Went to one of my favorite places on earth - the end of the world -past Horseneck beach in Westport Mass. I could spend the rest of my life painting on this little strip of beach, there are sooooo many subjects...from the ocean to the campers and their people....there will be more I am sure

Beachroad

6x6" oil on masonite sold
Sometimes the title of a painting comes even before I start to paint, sometimes it just doesnt come at all. This is not my kind of title but it is my kind of painting. I do like things to be representational but I really like my work to be painterly and colorfull with strong composition. The subjects I'm drawn to are usually things I love and having that come through in the painting is important. One of my girlfriends was looking at my work recently and she said something like;"Your paintings are so happy feeling".....ahh now were talking.
