Beach Kids 2 ways

Every now and then I get an image for a commission that really hits the nail on the head.  I mean, I might as well have taken this photo, right?
My kind of image, so painting it was fun.  So fun that I did 2!
I've got my fave.  Which one do you like?

Ponder it over the weekend.  I'll tell you which one the collector choose on Monday.

Little Beach -1. 07101

6x6" oil on panel
I've got a bunch of little beach paintings I'll be posting over the next few days.  It is almost like meditation painting these - getting lost in the little beach worlds.  Fun stuff, I'm at a loss for titles though.

The Competition - swimmers series

Nice weekend for a trip to Martha's Vineyard!  If you are going, head over to Edgartown and check out my work at Eisenhauer Gallery.  It is a wonderful space - you won't be dissapointed.

It's a Shore Thing - beach painting, 0714

36"x24" oil on canvas

It sure is a shore thing.  Seems like these days everyone is either going to, coming from, planning on going to or is actually AT the beach.
With that in mind, I painted this large canvas. One of 3 for a collector to choose from, I posted about it in a studio peek.  Now I can officially offer it for sale here.   24x36 is the perfect "over the mantle" size.  I've been painting a lot of them lately.  Tempted to bring this one home and put it over ours.

Blue Beach Girl

6x6" oil on panel
Normally when I'm working on some  of my bigger paintings or commissions, I like to start off with a "study" or a small painting, just to get the juices flowing.  Usually that meant painting a cupcake or two.  Recently, reworking old small paintings has been my go-to warm up.  This little blue beach girl is one of them.  I'm working on my values in paintings and these beach people paintings are perfect for that kind of practice.

A Peek into my Sketchbook - vacation sketching

Going on vacation this summer?  Take along your sketchbook!!  I love Instagram and my iphone camera as much as the next gal but nothing compares to slowing down and really taking in a view like drawing or painting in a sketchbook.  Less of a commitment than setting up an easel and paints for a plein air session, whipping out a drawing in a sketchbook has a charm all it's own.
