Studio Update

Painting a large commission, some more cupcakes, and wrapping up another year of teaching K art.
AND on top of that the garden beckons, and it is my Birthday Month SO...

This week I am taking the blogging pressure off - I try to blog M-F but this week I need to put all my energy into the commission so I'm taking the week off.  I'm sure I will pop in though and share something and I'll share the commission painting when it's done too.

Daily Rituals

nfdp - I've been thinking about daily rituals and habits lately. Particularly how I can adjust mine at the studio to help me get into the task at hand - painting.
Right now my routine is pretty much : unlock the door, sign-in (I keep a sign-in sheet by the door and keep track of my hours) and turn on the light by the tea kettle.

I flick on the tea kettle then go light a candle on my table -

then I go over to plug in my twinkle lights around the window

then I go grab the tea and put on my painting shirt.  I do this every time I come in the studio.

It is my little routine or habit or whatever you want to call it (neurosis?)  What are your daily habits that you do when you hit the studio or need to start a creative process?

New Moon Love

Wait,what?  TWO posts in one day??  Overachieving on my New Years Resolution.  I'm such a teacher's pet.

 Just remembered that it is a new moon today - how cool is that?  New year, new moon, new everything.   2014 isn't wasting anytime being totally awesome.  I love that and I love all my blog readers, collectors, fellow artists, friends - all of you are totally awesome too.  Let's rock this 2014.

Open Studio

Another open studio has come and gone.  To all the Warren Walkabouters who came by - a big thanks.  

Now it's time to get back to work!

Not sure on the exact dimensions of this but it is quite big. Tacked up on the wall to paint along with 2 others.
The small paintings are on the back burner for now

Featured Artist

Bristol Art Museum has asked me to be the featured artist at the Rogers Free Library through July 6. Some of my portraits are there plus many beachy paintings. 3rd floor- go check them out.

A peek inside my sketchbook

Peeking in artists sketchbooks is fun isn't it?
Do you keep one? I go through periods of drought like anything else but right now I'm really loving my sketchbook.

I'm calling it an " art journal". Which for some reason has freed me up. All sorts of things are going on!
